Early today, on CNN Opinion, Roland Martin published an article called Wake Up, Kate, Photogs Are Always Watching, in response to the nude pictures of Kate Middleton published in a French magazine. This was Mr. Martin’s opening paragraph:

When basketball legend Michael Jordan talked to the press after a Chicago Bulls or Washington Wizards game, fans never got to see the superstar with sweat dripping from his brow or a towel wrapped around his waist after emerging from the shower.

So, we have an article, about a woman’s violation of privacy, and it opens with… a description of a man’s model behavior.

The article goes on to say

Look, I’m not the least bit insensitive to the shock and horror of the young married couple seeing magazine photos of themselves sunbathing on private property in France. Yet my mama and daddy always taught me that if you don’t want someone to see your private parts, then don’t show them in public for someone to see.

And again

I found the whole opinion piece - while rightfully touching on society’s obsession with celebrities - to be misogynistic and shaming, with its entire basis on what a woman should do in order to not be violated and debased, and it hit a nerve. I am putting together a writing portfolio that consists of five (i think) short stories 800-900 words each. with three poems and a story that is 2000-3000 words long. and I have to use all four POV. so if you think you can turn ITYTD into that, sure. lol
